What Is Network Monitoring?
The “Network Monitoring” term describes service(s) which constanly monitors your website or network and alert system administrator when something goes wrong. Alerts can be sent via email, sms, phone call etc.
Usually network monitoring software monitors the uptime of your web server. But it also can monitor different services and protocols. Even your custom scripts can be monitored for failure or crash. All well known protocols are available for monitoring: pop3, smtp, imap, ftp and etc.
